favorite bit of a bad movie

I am not a fan of the movie thin red line. It had beautiful visuals and nice bits here and there but the story was not cohesive. It was just a jumble of little vignettes. It was the cinematic equivilent of a poetry collection. But I di love this one bit spoken by the spirit of a dead japaneese soldier. It speaks for me a great truth about war.

This great evil.

How'd it steal into the world?

I too thought the movie was drek... but... the soundtrack is hauntingly beautiful, passionate in it's unresolved themes, and stirring-- especially "Journey to the Line," "Stone in My Heart" and "God U Tekem Laef Blong Mi"

yep the music was good. hell the cast was good. The camera work was good. It just didn't have anything to hold it together.

From what I read the director had to edit his original film cut from 5 hours to just under 3 hours for it to be released. Adrien Brody's whole plotline was cut.
