Okay .....question for my usual gaming group.

I am wanting a tabletop game on the weekends or possibly weeknights. I have been looking at two possabilities.

1) My favortie notion at this point is rifts. Either using the core system. or doing the setting with hero system. either way I miss this game. Truth be told I want to play it as the hokey old system for it just for the nostalgia value.

2) Dungeons and Dragons. I thinking an Eberon or Forgotten realms setting campaign. i like working within the contraints of a published setting and working out from there.

Either is do able, but I prefer to do rifts just cause I am on a kick right now.

Alex Janeway has been wanting to run an Eberon game for some time.
He's moved back to maryville now.

(Not knowing how far Oak Ridge from Chattanooga) I know we have an Eberron campaign run by [livejournal.com profile] the_rebound_guy we play on Sunday evenings.

I'm game for Rifts (particularly some giant robot fun), but I find D&D tiresome (though the Iron Kingdoms setting looks like it'd be a blast). Weeknights/Weekends are good, as I usually get off at 3pm.

It is like an hour and half from where i live. A bit of a drive to add to my sundays. Though I am quite certain I would enjoy it.

You might also like Eberon, magical automatons are playable as a race and the there is a network of flying ships and magic driven railways.

I wanted to throw my 2 cents in here.

Rifts is a setting that I love and hate, I LOVE the setting and HATE the rules, making a character was like pulling teeth only worse but once you got into the story and avoided combat it was a lot of fun.

I have played a few campaigns in the 3.5 D and D and after a while you just get tired of it ... though a ton of fun

I have been reading alot of the new WoD Werewolf stuff and I have to say that I am very interested in it. I think it sounds like alot of fun and a good DM could do alot with it to keep it interesting.

/2 cents

Yeah, that would be a bit of a drive, so, I won't begin trying to convince you to come join us. However, if you ARE interested (for God knows what reason), let me know. *smiles*

All for either...I'm least familiar with Eberon though. Just don't have it be on Sunday afternoon.

D&D is my favorite system - Rifts doesn't sound too promising to me. I'm kinda tired of playing good settings with bad rules. I also have several D&D characters just waiting to be played... (Remember the evil game Reese was going to run?) And making new D&D characters is almost as fun as playing, in my mind. :) I was also enjoyimg ikara_fox's game if he ever has the time or inclination to run again. So there's my vote. Check with hoshiadam for days of the week, I don't care.

If we go the D&D route, Eberron's definitely for me... the thought of a Warforged Artificer is intriguing.
