Oddly, in the books at least, there are villains but no Villain, if that makes sense. The enemy is, more or less, 'the collection of all the evil in the world', and where there are characters who are on the opposite side, the book is never really about DEFEATING them.
How much of that survives the transfer to the big screen remains to be seen.
