creativity update

So I am trying to reach my goal of 20000 words on the Jackson James detective story by the end of the month. I have just about 13000 words right now. I am having trouble writing when I get home cause I am stressed all to hell at work. Anyone go any suggestions?

On the other hand I really like the story so far. I will need to go through and clean up some bits when I am done and it will need a good editing job, but I do like how the story is forming up. And for those wondering yes I will be posting some more of it up probably after I finish the chapter I am in.

On the podcasting front I am beginning to look at the Battlestar Galactica Role playing game. I will write a review of it probably after I hit the 20000 word mark on the story so next week sometime and I will have the next podcast shortly after that.

I have some lines I need to record as well this weekend. Should only take me an hour to record lines and a couple of auditions I am shooting for.

But as to the writing I think I may hit the bookstore tonight with a laptop and try and get some quality writing time in. Maybe I just need to get out of the house. I am hoping to clear 2000 words tonight. We will see how that goes.

It's a good idea to break up your routine and do things like go to the bookstore to write or to a coffee shop. Coffee shops are better because there are less pretty shiney books to distract you.

A laptop can be sometimes distracting by itself: shut off the wireless when you get booted up.

If there is anybody who will just sit and write with you, or just sit with you, sometimes that can help.

Yeah the bookstore I am thinking of I have written at before and my favorite section of books is well away from the coffe store. They also have no wrieless which is why I chose it to begin with.

As to having someone there, I dont think so. Busy lives and all that. Also I am afraid I would be to tempted to sit and talk to them. I dont know I have never tried writing as a communal experience.

I believe it would work for me, but only if we both were *very* very serious about getting writing done.

I think this is a good idea too. Brainstorming with others definitely get the writer's juices going.

Also, sharing your output and having others comment can sometime jolt you into writing more.
