I will leave off the anti catholic portion

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
To blow up King and Parliament.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England's overthrow;
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!

And the fireworks have been going off here since Saturday to celebrate the day. Samson is under the couch, cowering like a wimp. The cats are all safely accounted for and the cat flap locked to 'in only'. Bah, humbug, I say.

Ah, nostalgia: freshman year, Magnolia Buildings for Home Reading... This rhyme we had to learn by heart.
Our English teacher did her best to teach us all she knew about English traditions, she brought to her classes all sorts of pictures, tapes, artefacts and what not. We even put up some thematic shows in class. People from other groups thought her strict and exacting, and strict she was, but she was a great enthusiast and she taught us well.
Sorry for the long reminiscences. Nostalgia, nostalgia :)
