You find such odd things on Boing Boing. They linked to an article by esquire about white supremacists who supported OBama. It is a surprising article. These guys are fuckwits like all racists, but most of them interviewed were voting Obama. I will include the link but let me tell you the gist. Racists are diseased minds. Their diseased minds have their own twisted logic that will lead sometimes to things you would not expect.

But to put things in perspective Boing Boing included this video and honestly I could not find a better counter point the racist ugliness than the lovely song of Janice Ian. Please do enjoy.

I guess I react more strongly to the lyrics than I do to the music itself. I can't hear it without the awful story the song is telling coming right out at me.

Janis Ian herself said she didn't find it depressing because she used the phrase "ugly duckling" and the ugly duckling always turns into a swan.
