So I may have discovered a hidden downside to the machine. It may foster conditions conducive to giving me pink eye. I have it again. In the littel over a year sisnce I got the machine I have now gotten pink 3 or 4 times. Before getting the machine I think I may have gotten it once. I think it has to do with the mask leaking and blowing air right on my eye. now I am faced with a quandry. I cant put one of my contacts in cause well that would be bad see with the pink eye. And i should stay at home as pink eye is very contagious. But I cant afford to stay home. If I miss another day then I am going to get writen up. Two three day long ilnesses in less than a months time saw to that. I also cant afford it financially. I need to be getting as much time in as possible as is. I m already agreeing to work till midnight tommorrow. hell I doubt I can afford the medicine for it and the visit to the doctor anyway so staying out might be productive but not as productive as it could be. So I go in when I shouldnt. I guess at least I should be glad that my life is consistent. This also means I dont get to hang out with people who have babies for obvious reasons.

Frak.

I've gotten pink eye three times since I started working at CL. I blame the ventilation in the building. The building has had three health inspections for mold and the owners keep paying them off.

It means the mask isn't fitted properly if it blows air in your eyes.

It also means you may need to more aggressively wash the hose and mask off with antibacterial soap every morning and let it hang dry.

You are hanging out on [livejournal.com profile] sleep_disorders, yes? All sorts of handy experience and advice from fellow CPAP users.

While do clean it is not everyday. It like many chores, does not get the everyday treatment. Sadly my mask does not fit perfectly, the one before it did not either. I think when I order another one I will get the smaller size again. I got the bigger one thinking it would fit better but it appears not. I have swung by sleep disorders a few times but did not have it on my regular feed. I think I will.

As well as disinfecting the mask, you probably want to wash your pillowcase, sheets, and towel as soon as this bout goes away.

As for the fit of the mask, I recommend duct tape. :)

Hm -- are you washing the mask and hoses and whatever every day, super-well, with hot water and antibacterial soap? Pinkeye is a bacterial infection, and blowing air in your face isn't the main cause -- bacteria are. So I'd go with the previous commenter and say first wash it super well every day, twice if you have to, and make sure it's fitted properly. You've lost so much weight that the shape of your face has changed enough to need a re-fitting of the mask -- this is a good thing!! :)

To cure pink eye, you have to find and kill the head zombie. Don't just go hacking up zombies with a chainsaw. And don't use worcestershire sauce as embalming fluid.

Heh. The zombies will go on strike if you make comments like that...

"What do we want!"

"Bwains..."

"When do we want 'em!"

"...Bwains..."
