larp question

So Scott asked an interesting question so I will ask it as well. I have a larp buddies out there and many of you have seen me play lots of different characters. What kind of characters do I play well? What kind of characters do I not do well? I have my own thoughts on this but I am interested in hearing what other folks think.

Whatever you did with Mortimer. He's your best character. Pyotr and Angus are also really cool.

Mortimer was a concept character. I tried to deliberately create a character who would have no angst. I figured someone who revered death would not be bothered when people he liked died. Turns out he had angst anyway but it was odd. I did not have him till I did the voice. Once I had his voice I knew what he was like.

All of those characters had voice as a defining characteristic in meeting them.

some people need costuming or make up to get in character. I do it when I start sounding like a character.

I liked it when you play fops, Reginald was funny and I loved the Sultan, although I never got to talk to the Sultan in person.

He had a very cool hat. It was also nice to be a uber powerful thing in SI that was not there to screw over the pc's.

I liked playing Reginald because there was the surface level he showed most people and there was another level which was more complex and dark. I like playing folks who have multiple levels.

The Sultan was essentially me doing a Yul Brenner imitation.

Zottiare and Reginald always had this odd sort of dynamic going on... we seems to twist the knives into each other just to prove we both alive and could feel. I miss him.

You answered me so I think it's only fair. :)

What you do well (and by that I mean very well):
You are excellent at playing the Martyr. Many of the characters I think of when thinking of you are those who stand up and take it in the chin for the team. Another stong suit for you is the Faithful. Not the Dreamer, but the loyal against all reason faithful. The person who dedicated his life to goal/person X. Even if that fight is lost or goal/person becomes evil and you know it you don't walk away because this is where you decided to be. Yeah, that guy.
And then there is Lorenzo. Ah Lorenzo. Yes, you are a slimy mob boss if ever there was one.

The only type of character that I really just can't see you playing is the jovial/happy-go-lucky/carefree type. I can't see you EVER playing a standard core NERO Wanderer/Gipsey. A large part of this is who you are oop. You have a wonderfuly dark and at times morose sense of humor and that translates into all of your characters in varrying degrees. It's not to say that you can't play the fool, I just have never seen it and I think it might hurt my inner child if I did. ;)

Yeah i dont do silly characters. I dont like forced humor. I am also not naturally a cheerful person. I do sardonic.

interestingly enough when I used to act in high school and the like I found comedy easier than other types of roles.

Yeah I always picture you kind of the "get it done guy" You may not like the idea but if you can be convinced it is ion the best interest or comes from a character you are devoted enough to then yeah it gets done.

I have always loved the role of the stalwart servant. The hero is only as cool as the people him be be that cool. Saul was more the get it done type. If he received a command or a request from someone he followed or loved, than what ever it was no matter the cost it would happen.
