I read this on plantyhanchuck's page and grew angry.

Is this the society we have now? You know fear really is the mind killer, cuase it makes people stupid. You know I haven't seen any evidence to indicate that all the changes we have made in our laws and society since 9/11, changes we made out of fear, have made us safer. All they seem to do is foster more fear.

Yeah, it seems somewhat odd, doesn't it, that most of the efforts we've made in the "War on Terror" have been pretty much geared towards inducing a feeling of terror? I mean, come on - plastic sheeting and duct tape? Non-specific "threat-levels" ("You should be this terrified today"). Office of Fatherland Homeland Security. Saying that John Ashcroft and Donald Rumsfeld are in charge of lots of people with guns (that is a joke, right? Please tell me it was a joke.) And of course, the assertions that not only does every mad dictator on the planet have "weapons of mass destruction", but the capabilities to get them into America's heartland and the desire to do so, because they don't have enough to worry about keeping their own population subjugated.

Yes, fear is the mind-killer, and I think we've got a mass-mental-assassination attempt going on right now.

And you know i dont think we are any safewr for all our fear and precautions.

I would rather be free than safe anyway.
