When at primary school, we had pocket fortune-tellers, note-books with folded-up pages. Each page was devoted to something: "Whom you will marry", "What profession you will choose", "Your future income", etc. Leafing through the note-book and randomly choosing lines from appropriate pages, one could get a quite convincing picture of what loomed ahead. :)
