I spent a lot of my teenage years on the scifi convention circuit. One of the things I loved about living on the con scene was it never felt like strangers. We were all family even if we never met one another before.

Walking up and giving people hugs happens all the time. Sometimes it is friends and sometimes it is a complete stranger. I kind of miss that.

A lot of my random hugs I've received when not performing in costume has been at sci-fi conventions. You're correct in that they really do have a family feeling to them. I really wish I could get out to more. They're always a blast.
