Having played Shadowrun 4th edition this past weekend, I have it on the brain. I have played that game since the first edition came out. I love the setting. It is frigging awesome. The 4th edition makes some system changes that appear at least on the service to be very nice as the games weakness was the system it's self was a little unwieldy.

Anyways this put me in a mind of running it sometime up here in Knoxville. But I came up with this great idea for a game character creation concept. People will make characters based around their lj handle as their street handle. This is not to say they are playing themselves. It means they take the lj handle and come up with a story and a charicter in that world based on that name. That alone could be alot of fun.

What kind of shadowrun charicter would have your lj name?

You know, I am actually kind of glad I'm not playing this one. Can't picture being called Aveareya all night - much less while playing a character. I don't think anyone has actually spoken that name to me, just as a name. My mother may yell it when angry, but that's it. Yeah - I'm tangenting on your shadowrun post - too bad!

I'll back him - the new shadowrun is fun!!! We are making a new small game - though we all are supposed to make hit men. woot!

Actually I remember trying to say your real name once to you, to address you as Aveareya. You did not notice. I chalked it up to you hearing as most people do in random hellos and such heard what you expected. Hell I do that myself and a few seconds later my mind catches up and if something doesn't match I go hey wait a minute.

ooh - actually, I'd just go ahead and be russian. With a russian accent, aveareya actually works. Do they have elves in russia - that would be pretty keen. Hope you have fun with the game!

They have elves everywhere. In one of the novels they had an aboriginal elf that was really cool.

I may use you as an npc.

If you want - email me the kind of char. you want and I'll make it for you! Fun.

Interesting idea. And I think I actually have a decent LJ handle to work with, although I sort of suspect I'd be an NPC...

oh yes. A decker/news media type. Newsedition would make agood decker for being the exposition source.

Don't know what I would make him like but my lj handle is based on a fusion of Phoenix and Eclipse so he might be pretty cool. I would like to play another shadowrun game!

phoeclipse would make a good mage name. or a particularly eclectic decker/hacker.

Grungy monkey shaman with lots of guns and an overdeveloped sense of the role of plastic explosives in humor.

hhmm I have no idea.

Most likely the guy that the more elite runners make fun of and with the life expectancy of 20 minutes (5 if he opens his mouth)

Murr? I've never seen Shadowrun and know very little about it.

That is odd as it has been out for over a decade. I will direct you to the wikipedia article on this as it is better than the main website for detailing what is going on.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadowrun

Shadowrun is a cyberpunk-urban fantasy cross-genre role-playing game, set in the years 2050, 2060 or 2070 (depending on the game edition) following a great cataclysm that has brought use of magic back to the world, just as it begins to embrace the marvels (and dangers) of technologies such as cyberspace - the everpresent computer networks, genetic engineering, and the merger of man and machine called cyberware.

I'd be a BAR!

Well, feel free to use Huntsman Tavern as a location if you run it...

Cause every runner team needs a good hangout to drink afterwards.
