While this is a bit of rant let me say that no one here is the guity party. I dont often write about the customers I have to deal with. I guess I always sort of thought it improper. I deal with confidential information daily and I do indeed take that seriously. As some of you know I work at earthlink. I work in saves, which is to say I am responsible for finding out why someone wants to cancel, find a solution for said problem, and save the customer.
Now yes I know this can be annoying to some folks when they call to cancel. The easiest thing to do is let me make my 2 attempts at least and be about your way. It is quicker and more pleasent. Yelling at a customer service guy for the wait times is both pointless and unneeded as he can do little to correct it. Besides nine times out of ten if you had a problem with the service a guy in my position can not only find it but fix it if you let them. All that being said I am used to being cursed. People get fed up and just want to yell at someone. I do get that. I will not put up with to much abuse but I am somewhat thick skinned.
Today went past that.
(after verifying things.)
Me: Okay caller, You say want to cancel? I am sorry to here that. What seems to have been the problem.
caller: (in a hateful voice)No problem just cancel me.
Me:Okay, I can do that, but I mean if it is something we did, it would be helpful to know.
caller: (yelling)I am not interested in talking to you about your fuck ups. Give me my confirmation number and god damn you to hell.
Me: Okay, okay I can get on that but I need to ask you not yell or curse okay?
caller:(in a calm and very serious tone)Oh I am not cursing, I am mearly praying to god that you personally burn in hell.
Okay I get being angry, but what the fuck?! I mean it caught me so off guard I think I could a cried. I mean how the hell am I suppose to deal with that. I can deal with insults and even threats but to have someone litterally wishing me to recieve eternal damnation. someone I dont know and I have never done anything too.
I have to get off the fucking phones.
Okay I will put my bitterness away now.
