Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] justinjacobson for sharing this tidbit.

So I am not planning on voting for McCain any way. I think he is an okay sort and I don't hate the man but I just disagree with him politically. That said I find the recent post on http://johnmccain.com to be another little nail in the coffin of the chances I would vote for him.

http://www.johnmccain.com/McCainReport/Read.aspx?guid=181471d0-5456-4434-9f78-2f30ffc39459

"It may be typical of the pro-Obama Dungeons & Dragons crowd to disparage a fellow countryman's memory of war from the comfort of mom's basement, but most Americans have the humility and gratitude to respect and learn from the memories of men who suffered on behalf of others. John McCain has often said he witnessed a thousand acts of bravery while he was imprisoned, and though not every one has been submitted into the public record, they are remembered by the men who were there (one such only recently reported by Karl Rove though it escaped mention in any of Senator McCain's books). But as Swindle said, this is a "desperate group of people trying to make something out of nothing."

How does playing D&D become a pejorative? Do all of my conservative friends who play D&D now become Obama supporters?

Sigh.

night for real this time.

Michael Goldfarb is an idiot...

Dude - that was a post by Michael Goldfarb (whom I think is an idiot) that referenced John McCain, so they put it up on his website. I wouldn't use that as "another little nail in the coffin" to disagree with McCain.

I have no clue when playing any RPG became a pejorative, and personally I *HATE* how those types of commentators get off on using wide paintbrushes to make statements rather than researching issues.

But like we've always agreed: There are idiots on both sides of the fence. So don't let yourself fall into the trap of taking what one idiot says to heart and putting his words into someone else's mouth. Know what I mean?

Off to bed myself...

Re: Michael Goldfarb is an idiot...

Hmm I noticed it was the Goldfarb character. I just thought he was a staff blogger or something. One could argue they liked the obviously agreed with him or they would not have posted it on the site, but meh. I agree there are stupid folks on both sides.

That said I am still not voting McCain but I had my own more reasoned thoughts on that to begin with. I mean how could I vote for an ABBA fan?

heh.

I posted it mainly cause there are by some reports over a million current and former D&D players in the country. I suspect it has very little to do with who they might vote. This kind of idiocy in commentary is one reason I hate election seasons.
