So I have tried to call them on my break and been told to leave a message and they will call me back. I tried to explain that I am in a call center and i cant take calls. They tell me I have to take care of it before the end of buisness today. The receptionist says they will have to call me back. I hate this. I want to do the right thing but these people are treating me like crap.

Be tough but polite, do not make threats, just plainly state that they may not contact you via telephone regarding this matter any longer. I had to do that recently and it ended the phone calls.
If they make any threats on you, be they legal or physical, then you need to report them. The government is actually pretty harsh on that rule. Also you can tell them that you are considering filing for bankruptcy and they can either work with you and collect some money, or you declare and they get nothing.
Bill collectors can't harass you! - September 19, 2003
While Clark was in graduate school, he was a bill collector for IBM. His job was to go after the federal government when they didn’t pay their bills for equipment they were using. Now, Clark gets calls from all over the country from people being harassed by bill collectors. Sometimes these collection agencies contact people by mistake or they call the wrong number. But the recipients of these calls get so intimidated they pay the money anyway. Clark now knows first hand what it’s like because his new cell phone number is somehow mixed up with a consumer who owes a lot of money in debt. He gets two or three calls a week from debt collectors who refuse to believe that he doesn’t owe the money. And he says one in three of these callers is mean and nasty. If you’re getting harassed and the collection agents are rude, you don’t have to listen. These people must follow rules and regulations of the industry and they are not allowed to harass you about the debt. Make sure they’re professional or send them a drop dead letter to leave you alone.
Collection agencies coming for you - February 5, 2002
What happens if you fall behind on a bill? Well, first of all, you need to pay it. If it's become impossible for you to pay it, then you could start getting calls from a collection agencies. These days, collectors are feeling more and more desperate because the “recovery rate” is down to about 11 cents. What this means is that so many people are not paying their debts, it's causing collection agencies are break the law to get their money. Here's the gist of what these collection agencies can and can't do, according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Collectors are forbidden from calling early in monrning after 9pm at night; they can't tell someone else that you owe money and they can’t threaten to garnish your wages. The reality is that you have some power in this situation. If you are getting calls at all hours of the day, you have the right to send them a drop dead letter, letting them know. For a sample letter, click here. And when your circumstances improve, pay your debts.
You need to tell them that they have violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act now honey.

Pay off your debt 75 percent faster by making half your regular payment every 14 days

FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION
Staff Commentary on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
Section: NEW COMMENTS BASED ON RECENT STAFF LETTERS TO ATTORNEYS
A student loan is a "debt" covered by the FDCPA;(8) however, alimony, tort claims, and non-pecuniary obligations are not covered.(9)
A salaried attorney who collects debts on behalf of, and in the name of, his creditor employer,(10) and a state educational agency that collects student loans,(11) are exempt from coverage by the FDCPA
So I think unlessyou are being contacted directly by a salaried attorney, then you can tell them they are in violation of the FDCPA.

...
of course the agreement presupposes 108 months of payments.
But hey after making 12 months they will stop with holding my taxes and i could get student loans again to go to school.
Isn't that lovely.
oh well it is better than nothing.
just fucking shoot me.
I am so tired of dealing with this. I am 32 years old. I should be looking at maybe finding a house not looking over my shoulder to see what else is going to try and pull the rug out from under me.
