There is a chocolate that I could not find the calorie count on but it was awful smal so i find it hard to believe it has more than 50 calories.

From one fat-ass to another, drop the yogurt.
As odd as it sounds, the times I have decided to drop weight I just eat every other day. It sounds "Crazy!" but it works.

Re: ...

That's probably good advice. Eat an egg instead. Things that advertise themselves as low-fat are usually higher sugar content than their regular fat equivalents.

Learn to make do with artificial sweeteners in your tea. Those extra calories add up. Keeping up the water intake is a good thing. Not only does it help fill you up, it helps flush toxins out of your body.

The problem I find with drinking water (I drink 12+ cups a day) is that not only does it flush out all the toxins, it flushes out the foods in my stomach and I eat/snack/graze more. I've started adding more proteins to see if that helps.

It should help significantly. That's one of the principles of the Atkins diet, which is very effective, if a bit limiting.

The Fannie May Mint Meltaways are just about 50 calories each.

Re: ...

Eggs are good, but it's good idea to get enough calcium in your diet if you want to lose weight (and for general good health). There are some organic yogurt brands that are pretty tasty, and they don't have high fructose corn syrup like Yoplait does.

A calcium and/or fiber supplement might be worth considering, too. I have one with both calcium and fiber, if i could just remember to take it... :)

Re: ...

interestingly I got to go with the yogurt on this one. One it gets my dose of sweet out which if I did not have some sweet I would crave it something awful also yogurt is amazingly healthy for you. Yes most store bought has more sugar bu the rest of the effects are pretty positive.

first it is high in calcium which helps so many thing. It also is a pretty good source of protein. The bacteria it has in it also helps your intestinal tract health. The lactic acid in it aids in digestion of calcium as well(according to a couple of sources).

Re: ...

an egg would be good but most mornings I dont have time to cook and I eat breakfast at work. What I will do is see if I can find a better brand of yogurt though.

Re: ...

Yeah I will look this weekend for a better brand of yogurt. I picked up yoplait cause it was cheap.

I am taking vitamin suppliments.

actually not a bad idea but as with all things there may be a catch. Sweetners have side effects sometimes worse than sugar.

splenda in particular breaks down into some toxic substances and has been shown in large quantities to cause problems with the thalmus. Not saying it is all bad in moderation but all things in moderation.

Re: ...

Yay vitamins! :) They don't have much calcium in them, though, so it's good that you're getting it from other sources.

I have to admit that Yoplait is my favorite brand, taste-wise. I just wish they didn't put the bad corn syrup in there. I tend to alternate between the not-as-healthy Yoplait and the organic brands, which are probably more expensive - but they have inulin, a fiber that's supposed to help you absorb calcium. There's also a regular brand that has a line of natural yogurts - I think it's Dannon, but not sure.

And as for the eggs, you could always boil them a dozen at a time, then you wouldn't have to worry about cooking them in the morning. If you like them boiled (I recommend pepper). :)

What's the structure of your diet? Low-calorie? Low-carb?

Vegetables are good. Can you eat some celery or baby carrots?

From: [identity profile] technoir.livejournal.com

thanks doll. You know I considered the fact I would loose much more weight as a vegetarian. But sadly I do love meat.

From: [identity profile] technoir.livejournal.com

low calorie. I am keeping below 2500 calories which is ten times my target weight. I am also increasing my visits to the gym. Though today i fee like I am coming down with something so i may not today.

Yeah I intend to start moving more vegies in. Some salad would be good.

From: [identity profile] pipistrella.livejournal.com

Not necessarily. A lot of new vegetarians fill up on bread and cheese and gain more weight than ever. And don't try to make more than one change at a time. But if you like raw vegetables they can make awfully good snacks, especially baby carrots. Mmmm baby carrots! Or cucumbers, peeled, sliced, and lightly salted.

From: [identity profile] technoir.livejournal.com

raw carrots may be a plan. I need snacks I can take with me to work. Do they keep at room temperature?

From: [identity profile] mkillingworth.livejournal.com

Carrots and celery do alright at room temperature. Even the cucumber would be do-able for no more hours than you work.

Not for a long time, but for a day or so they'll be fine. I also find that mixed greens or spinach are more appetizing in a salad than iceberg lettuce.

From: [identity profile] moosea1.livejournal.com

I LOVE spinach in salad; in fact, I eat twice as many salads now that I discovered that because the truth is that I don't really like iceburg lettuce much.

If you aren't a big raw veggie fan, you can get fat free ranch dressing in small snack packs for dipping to make the veggies more palatable. They store at room temperature. Yum!
